Super Pocket Atari Edition

I love this thing so much. Blaze's Evercade has been a bright spot in modern retro video gaming for me for the last five years, and the Super Pocket is a compact and sturdy way to play all those cartridges. One way or another you should get a Super Pocket.

I have all of the Super Pockets so far except the Capcom one. But this is my favorite one. Not just because I am a big Atari fan, but because the game lineup here is out of this world. While all the other Super Pockets have substantial lineups of somewhere between 12 and 18 games, this one clocks in at a whopping 50! And it's not just 50 random 2600 roms of questionable legality like on certain other handheld devices (*coughPocketPlayercough*), this is a decades-spanning collection of titles from the 2600, 5200/8 bit, 7800, Lynx, and arcade!

The game selection here is thoughtful and 90% great - notwithstanding a handful of duds like Dirty Larry and the "Skeletor underpants" Tempest 2600 prototype. The marquee classics are here in excellent versions - arcade and 7800 Asteroids, arcade Missile Command, 7800 Centipede (the best version to play on a d-pad). The arcade games feature the usual suspects with a fun custom Pong implementation and some unusual games like Liberator. The 5200, 7800, and Lynx choices are excellent with tremendous diversity of gameplay and some of the very best titles on the system. The 2600's very best Atari games are here with Adventure, Gravitar, Haunted House, Solaris, and Yars' Revenge, and the best originally unreleased games are here with Aquaventure and Save Mary. There are even some key games by Atari's erstwhile competitors Stern (Berzerk, Frenzy, and Lost Tomb) and Intellivision/M-Network (the fabulous Dark Cavern).
