BRING HOME THE HORROR

Deluxe editions include a deluxe case, steelbook, sew-on patches, key art poster, and a replica of Captain Blake’s ID card.

In the frozen arctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility. Players step into the boots of Captain J.F. Blake, the leader of a US Army Special Forces rescue team, sent to investigate the blood-curdling events that transpired in the original The Thing film. Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don't get the best of them … or himself.

The Thing: Remastered is a faithful restoration of the 2002 third-person survival horror shooter inspired by Universal Pictures' genre-defining 1982 film, The Thing. Nightdive Studios has upgraded this classic for the modern era with hand-crafted improvements to character models, textures, and animations. The suspenseful and disgustingly detailed remaster reanimates the thrilling game for modern audiences.

Arrived in great condition

I played the original but I’m not opening this one. Great condition. I might get it graded just for fun, I dunno. This game is the closest thing to a sequel for the John Carpenter’s remake of The Thing. Originally called A Thing From Another World if I recall correctly. It’s a game that takes place right after The Thing. Pick it up. It’s awesome if you like sci fi third person shooter-loaded with horror.

The Thing on Nintendo Switch – A Chilling Hidden Gem

An unexpectedly fantastic game—The Thing on Nintendo Switch is a hidden gem that deserves far more attention, especially considering it’s based on one of the most iconic sci-fi horror films of all time. It's shocking how many people missed this one, and even more shocking how good it actually is.

Much like Alien: Isolation—which came out years later to much acclaim for its faithful recreation of Ridley Scott’s Alien—this adaptation of The Thing pulls off a similarly impressive feat. It doesn’t just wear the skin of the film. It gets under it. The game plays with themes from John Carpenter’s 1982 classic—paranoia, mistrust, and survival in isolation—turning them into interactive mechanics. You’re constantly questioning who to trust, who’s infected, and whether you’ll make it out alive. The tension is thick enough to carve into with an ice axe.

What really sets this game apart is how it expands on the universe of the film without cheapening it. It serves almost as a spiritual sequel, picking up threads left by the movie and weaving them into a new narrative that feels faithful yet fresh. The visuals, even on the Switch’s modest hardware, retain that gritty, snow-blown, bunker-bound aesthetic. And the atmosphere—cold, claustrophobic, and dread-soaked—is spot on.

If you’re a fan of survival horror, sci-fi, or just love the idea of a game where your allies could turn into monsters at any moment, this is a must-play. It’s not just a decent movie tie-in. It’s a genuinely clever and chilling experience in its own right.
