Amazing recreation - can play all of the old carts for both 2600 and 7800 including new homebrew games. Fantastic! Brought the child back out in me of good times in the 80's. Crystal Quest is very addictive.

This device was everything I wanted from an Atari console for modern televisions! All my games look fantastic, and being able to play with a wireless controller that is much better than the original 7800 is a gamchanger.

I hope Atari has other Atari+ Platform consoles in the works, because this is the way to do modern day retro.

Bought the Atari 7800 + and it works great. It plays most games made for the 2600 and 7800 games I own.

Growing up I barely got to play the Atari 7800. My cousin had one and I have a very nostalgic memory of playing it back in 1987 at his house. I got the Sega Master System and he got the Atari 7800 from Santa that year. Now as an adult I was finally able to get my hands on the perfect 7800, the 7800+. It functions flawlessly, is compatible with old and new games as well as controllers, plays on modern televisions and has opened up an entire world of gaming I never got to experience as a kid. I'm so glad I got my hands on one and I owe it all to my mother who got it for me at Christmas. Thanks Mom!

Compact, sips power, and reads either original or homebrew carts. Firmware update process is also relatively painless, just make sure you have a Windows PC on hand.

The 7800 was my favorite console growing up and finally I have a brand new version to play on my smart TV and for years I wanted the European style controllers but the were hard to find and expensive too. Now I have the controllers and an awesome system. I'm reliving my childhood again.

I recently acquired an original Sears Tele-Games Heavy Sixer (Atari 2600) thanks to my lovely wife. I got it all cleaned up, repaired, and modded to work on modern televisions. From there, I go bit by the Atari bug and started building a collection of my favorite games from my childhood. Then, I discovered the new Atari+ consoles, and decided to pick up the amazing 7800+ so I could enjoy both 2600 and 7800 games in style! Now, my old 2600 and new 7800+ sit side by side, giving me hours of entertainment. My inner child couldn't be happier!

I have a lot of nostalgia with Atari- my almost 50 year old heavy sixer still works. I have a bin full of caets and decided it woild be fun to play them on a machine made in this century. It looks great and works well. I decided on the 7800+ as I read it is easier to update and I never had a 7800. A 2 bitton stick- that's progress! Worth the price- my 8 uear old grandson loves it - he was raised on Nintendo!

What a great console! I grew up with a 2600 and had never played a 7800 game in my life. Now I'm building a collection of 7800 titles to go along with my 253 total 2600 cartridges, all of which can be played on this machine. Well constructed, easy to use, and an excellent investment for anyone wanting to play these amazing games from the 70s and 80s.

Great modern way to play both Atari 7800 and 2600 classic cartridges. Love the large rainbow design in mini form along with the wireless CX78 joypads. Would love to see a firmware update that gives us the original Atari 7800 splash logo during startup.

Finally, after 40 years I got an Atari for Xmas. I couldn't be happier with it.

I am so glad I bought this! I love getting to play some of my favorite games with my kids using the cartridges and wired controllers I used when I was their age. I am grateful to Atari for giving me the ability to share this fun memory with my kids.

Great system. Excellent backwards compatibility feature. Love the pack in game as well. I wish there was an option for a pro line controller even though it was received negatively, it would add more authenticity

Great company and the console is great for hours of playing

The 7800+ is a five-star product. So why four stars for the Game On Mega Bundle? Because it includes Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest... a game that already comes with the 7800+. That is a very odd choice, as they could have saved us a few bucks by not doing that. Now I have to sell the extra copy of BBCQ. Otherwise, the whole thing is awesome and includes many terrific games and an extra controller for immediate two-player action.

Here are some things I did like:

The aesthetic of the console is spot on.
The HDMI output convinced me to purchase this over a second-hand Atari 7800.

Here are some things I did not like:

You need to play with the console next to you because some of the game operation controls are on the console. This somewhat defeats the purpose of offering wireless controllers.
The game start process takes too long. If it was 2-3 seconds it would be fine, but it usually takes 5-10 seconds on average, with some games taking over 25 seconds.
The console will likely come with an older firmware version, which at the time of writing the only operating system supported to run the update utility is Microsoft Windows, so you will need a PC to update the firmware after you receive it.
The paddle emulation is decent but not what I would call "good". There is a small amount of input lag that is acceptable for most paddle games, but for games like Kaboom they are nearly unplayable.
The 7800 gamepad is not ideal for platformers. Your thumb won't be able to rock between buttons for run-jumps.

Overall, I think if you have a 7800 already you might not be interested in this. If you are an Atari fan with no 7800 yet you might be interested in this.

I’m 31 and I’ve had a recent revived interest in Atari because I like playing video games but life is super busy and I just don’t have the time multi-hour investment games. The classic Atari games are great for 30 minute pickup and plays. After catching up with all Atari has been doing these days, I decided to get a 7800+ and begin a cartridge library. After playing Crystal Quest and getting a lot of old cartridges from second-hand stores, it’s not just me playing this; I’m finding myself bringing this to family visits with my parents and grandparents all playing these games and having a blast. Friends of mine are getting into these games and are considering getting their own. It’s a fun experience that I get to share with other people much like the days when we used to hang out at arcades. I’ve had no problems with the machine, no problem reading old or new carts, and the gamepad works just fine. I’m glad Atari did this.

My wife bought me this for Christmas last year. We play it all the time, it has brought back so many childhood memories. We are now going to every retro gaming store we can find to get games. What makes this really worth it we can use the old joysticks. I would recommend this to anyone with 80s nostalgia.

I think you need to have a console like this in your collection. Your friends will be amazed, and your girlfriend will miss you :-)

I love how it has compatibility to almost everything including most of the new homebrew stuff. I've discovered a lot of great games and the wireless controller works great.

Absolutely exceeded my expectations! Easy to set-up; plays all of my old 7800 carts and 95% of my 2600 carts. Wireless controller is great, much better choice to use the european controller rather than the old US stick-shift thingy. Great purchase!

Fun system, brings back a lot of old memories.

This machine is cool. It runs good, looks good, and makes me feel like I am back in the 80's gaming on my old school console. The only very small complaint was that I had to do the firmware update in order to play some of the obscure titles. But to be fair, I own a lot of rares from third party devs and homebrews. And after the firmware update, which Atari walks you through and makes it super easy, that problem went away. Most people would not even notice without the firmware. It out-of-the-box plays 99% of titles. And pretty much all the popular ones. Great console.

Just purchased the Atari 7800+. What an incredible purchase that brought me back to being a teen again in the 80's. I've been playing a ton of Pacman and Donkey Kong. Such a killer system!
