It’s just like you remember. Same size, weight, movement, and glory.

The CX78+ feels solid and the buttons and d-pad all respond without issue. The wireless function works great so I can sit on the couch. It's also cool the little joystick on the d-pad can be unscrewed so you can the d-pad without it. It's not ergonomic, as most controllers weren't back then, but it looks like an accurate recreation of the original controller. The CX78+ also works flawlessly with all the old 2600 games I've tired it with.

I do worry that the threading on the little joystick may get worn or ruined over time because it's plastic, but it does look like there are 3rd party options for the little joysticks.

Overall, this is a great way to experience the classic games with some modern conveniences of a wireless gamepad.

Im a huge retro gamer, and Ive always liked the original CX78, this one is built to the exact same quality as the original, that is to say, very high quality. Its one of the easiest wireless controllers to connect that I own as well. Also, Atari, THANK YOU, for making it USB-C as well. It also works great on my Commodore computers and Colecovision as well as my original Atari 7800. I cannot recommend this controller enough, and Ive seen a lot controllers. A LOT. Everything from terrible 1st party ones and great 3rd party ones. This is an example of a great 1st party one. Best of all worlds.
