CX78+ Gamepad

Works beautifully with Baby Pac-Man on my atari 2600+ Pac-Man edition. Im able to play the pinball game with both buttons. Attaching the joystick part is very easy and also to remove. But i think ill leave it on as it feels noce to the touch.

Can't beat the price!

Got one of these in 2024 to try. It's still working great and is now my preferred controller for the 2600, so I bought a second to complete the pair. Of course.

I got this controller as part of a 2600+ bundle. It is good for quick inputs, especially diagonals. The thumbstick is a nice feature. The buttons seemed to get stuck on my controller if they weren't pressed straight on, even when it was new. This wasn't really an issue at first, but over the course of about a week I was trying to improve my Berzerk high score. By the end of a week of 30-45 minutes a day of playing, the right button got worse, and sticks quite a bit. The dpad is still fine. The controller was pretty decent new, and it was nice to get it bundled with the 2600+, but I would not buy another one separately based off of how quickly my first one wore out.

This is a great controller. It is well made and feels good in the hands. I actually prefer this one since it does not have the slight delay the wireless version has. I am going to go ahead and order a second one now.

Very comfortable and good wire length

Not a fan of the D-pad/joystick. It unscrews during use and is erratic.

Wish I had this in the 80s. This is a more comfortable way to play 2600 games. Had it for a while and it's holding up good.

Gamepad is really nice quality the thumb joystick could use a little upgrade.

I always wondered why Atari, back in the day, sold this in Europe and not in the US. While I love the CX40+ joystick, i also enjoy the option to play my favorite games with the CX78+ Gamepad.

The CX+ Gamepad is comfortable, responsive, and feels more natural for longer play sessions than a classic joystick. The buttons are solid and make action games easier to control, especially platformers. It doesn’t replace the old stick for purists, but it’s a great modern option for Atari games.

Nice controller, I wish it was slightly bigger but it's not too small by any means. I love that the joystick unscrews, so you can use it as a d-pad which is better for some older games. I will say I occasionally get a combined input when I'm intending to move in a certain direction, but that is likely due to how small it is and my fat fingers. Works great on my original Atari 7800, and other reviews indicate that it works well on the newer "plus" systems as well. Glad I got these!

Functions very well

Atari made a great move to bring these controllers to the US, no more scouring on eBay for an original European 7800 controller for marked up prices. Great controller for the era of Atari.

Decent controller for the $! While the buttons are a bit far apart, & the D pad isn't always super precise, it usually gets me through the tough spots in games just fine!

The gamepad you want for most Atari games. If you prefer wired over cordless then go with this one.

ordered this the day it was available - I really like it, it's exactly like the OG version - that being said, the OG failed in the button layout (buttons too far apart), but that's not an "issue" - jus the way things were - This is a great backup joystick, I have the wireless one which gets the most use - would highly recommend

Great for 7800 games that need 2 buttons on my 2600+

The controller is pretty close the original in function and feel. No problems using it on new atari+ or old 7800 consoles.

I have an origional Atari 7800 and these CX78+ gamepads work amazingly! I like playing action/adventure games like Secret Quest, Dragon's Descent, and Deepstone Catacomb, and these controlers are PERFECT for these types of games. They work well on the other games I have too. Highly, highly recommended!

Such a great feeling of nostalgia

Works great, cord could be longer though as we don't sit in the floor in front of the TV like the original Atari controllers.

Picked up the CX78 controller to pair with my 2600+. It's great. I primarily use the d pad without the stick. It makes classics easier than I remember. Like not accidentally moving forward in Asteroids or making jumps in Kangaroo.
